丘吉爾：「香港雖不能堅守，但一定要保衛。」

1945年8月30日，英國皇家海軍夏愨少將率領艦隊駛入維港，象徵香港回歸英國管治。 翌年，港府將8月30日定為法定假期，即「重光紀念日」。主權移交後，重光紀念日公眾假期突然消失，歷史漸被遺忘。

另外，長達十八天的香港保衛戰裡，過千名本地及外藉軍人和平民為港捐軀，當中大部分葬於西灣國殤紀念墳場，卻鮮為人知。

七十年後的今日，時代思進將於墓園舉辦悼念儀式，吊唁守衛香港之烈士，紀念香港重光，提醒大眾毋忘歷史。

On 30 August 1945, the Royal British fleet commanded by Admiral Cecil Harcourt entered the Victoria Harbour, marking the resumption of British administration in Hong Kong. In the next year, the Hong Kong government declared 30 August a statutory holiday, the “Liberation Day”. After the transfer of sovereignty in 1997, however, the Liberation Day has been taken off from the list of statutory holiday, and its significance has become gradually forgotten.

As a matter of fact, in the eighteen-day Battle of Hong Kong, thousands of local and foreign soldiers and civilians sacrificed for Hong Kong. Known little to the public, many of these brave soldiers have their remains buried in the Sai Wan War Cemetery.

On the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation Day, Watershed will hold a commemoration ceremony at the Sai Wan War Cemetery, to pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed for Hong Kong, and to raise awareness of this remarkable moment of Hong Kong history.
